That produces a mix of historic buildings with little space, modern offices and research buildings, and large residential complexes with collective ventilation. Each type calls for its own approach. This page shows what that approach is, which standards do and do not apply and which Danduct Clean equipment suits buildings in Delft. Lamers Reinigingstechniek in Zelhem supplies that equipment and advises on the choice.

Delft in figures: a small territory, a lot of knowledge
Delft has 109,577 inhabitants on roughly 23 km² of land and ranks 29th of the 342 municipalities. With 63,517 households, an average of 1.73 people live in each household. That is low: many small households, and therefore a lot of stacked housing.
| Sector | Establishments | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Business services | 3,855 | 28.7% |
| Government, education and healthcare | 2,465 | 18.3% |
| Trade and hospitality | 2,055 | 15.3% |
| Industry and energy | 1,690 | 12.6% |
| Transport, information and communication | 1,485 | 11.0% |
| Culture, recreation and other services | 1,355 | 10.1% |
Business services plus transport, information and communication add up to 39.7%. Think of engineering firms, software companies and consultants: workplaces where people spend long hours indoors and where air quality is noticeable. The World Green Building Council mentions a possible productivity gain of 8 to 11% from better indoor air quality.
Listed buildings: ducts where no panel will fit
In a historic city centre, ducts were often added later, through existing joists and walls. They are narrow, have many bends and rarely have inspection panels. Adding a panel is not always desirable in a listed building.
That is where the Intelligent Airnozzle for businesses with a camera is a strong option. The Intelligent Airnozzle from Danduct Clean works in ducts from 30 mm, takes tight 90 degree bends and propels itself forward by air pressure. The built in camera with LED lighting gives a black and white image on a monitor, so you see which spots are still dirty. Lamers puts it like this: cleaning with an air nozzle was always considered less effective than rotating brushes, but with the camera you see and clean every spot and corner.
- Required: a compressor delivering 700 litres per minute or more at about 10 bar, or nitrogen.
- Supplied: 20 metres of hose and a transport case. The monitor is separate.
- Can be linked to the Danduct Clean control boxes.
Laboratories and research rooms fall outside EN 15780
A misunderstanding that often comes up in a knowledge city: that EN 15780 applies to every ventilation system. The revised version from 2025 applies to ventilation systems, but explicitly not to industrial, medical and laboratory facilities. So for fume cupboards and process extraction in a lab you need other frameworks.
| Room | EN 15780:2025 usable? | What do you look at instead? |
|---|---|---|
| Office and meeting room | ✓ | Cleanliness classes and inspection intervals from annex A |
| Lecture hall and study area | ✓ | Same, plus CO2 and Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit) art. 6.2 |
| Commercial kitchen or canteen | ✓ | Kitchen extraction included since 2025 |
| Laboratory | ✗ | Own safety rules and risk analysis |
| Process installation | ✗ | Occupational hygiene and dust limits |
A trade article mentions a risk assessment every 2 years, and annually in high risk buildings such as hospitals and labs. That is not Dutch law, but it is a reasonable starting point if your maintenance plan does not yet have its own interval. The background to the standards is under EN 15780 duct cleanliness for cleaning contractors.
Residential complexes with collective mechanical ventilation
With 1.73 people per household, Delft has many small homes, often in complexes with central extraction on the roof. For property managers and owners' associations (VvE) that is a commercial job: one system, dozens of connections.
Milieu Centraal (Dutch public information centre) advises having the extract ducts of mechanical ventilation cleaned at least once every 8 years, servicing the ventilation unit once every 2 years and checking the whole system roughly every 4 years. Residents can clean the grilles themselves at least once a year.
For extract ducts like these, small and light machines are handy. With a power drill as the drive and a shaft of 2.5 to 7.5 metres, you can often cover an extract run between roof and dwelling in one go. More about this type of system can be read under ducts of mechanical ventilation.
Duct cleaning Delft: working order in a busy building
In a city with so little space, the work has to be compact and clean. A workable sequence:
- Establish access. Where are the panels? Eurovent recommends openings no more than 10 metres apart or after no more than two bends of 45 degrees or more.
- Inspect. Use a camera to see what is in the duct, so you choose the method based on the contamination and not on gut feeling.
- Seal off and apply negative pressure. Close the section you are cleaning and keep it under negative pressure throughout. If the extraction unit exhausts indoors, a HEPA filter of 99.97% at 0.3 µm is required.
- Clean. A rotating brush where possible, compressed air with a camera where it is too narrow or has too many bends.
- Record the result. Photos and a before and after comparison, so the owner can show it.

Ventilation duct cleaning Delft and the Haaglanden region
Delft borders two municipalities, each with its own character. Den Haag is even more densely built, with 6,868 inhabitants per km², see duct cleaning equipment in Den Haag. Leidschendam-Voorburg has many offices and care facilities, see air duct cleaning in Leidschendam-Voorburg.
If you work in educational buildings, the page on school ventilation duct cleaning is a useful addition. All municipalities are listed under regional air duct cleaning for cleaning contractors. For a quotation or advice on the right machine, contact Lamers in Zelhem.
When you plan work across these neighbouring municipalities, it pays to group jobs by building type rather than by postcode. A listed canal house, a lab and a residential block each need a different set on the van, and sorting the diary that way saves trips back for missing accessories.

Frequently asked questions: air duct cleaning Delft
Does EN 15780 apply to a laboratory in Delft?
No. EN 15780:2025 applies to ventilation systems, but not to industrial, medical and laboratory facilities. For the offices, corridors and lecture halls in the same building you can use the standard. For fume cupboards and process extraction in the lab you follow the organisation's own safety rules and risk analysis.
How do you clean a narrow duct in a listed building in Delft without a new panel?
With compressed air and a camera. The Intelligent Airnozzle from Danduct Clean works in ducts from 30 mm, takes tight 90 degree bends and propels itself forward by air pressure. The camera shows you which spots are still dirty. You do need a compressor of 700 L/min or more at about 10 bar.
What do the small households in Delft mean for ventilation maintenance?
In 2024 CBS counted 109,577 inhabitants and 63,517 households, an average of 1.73 per household. That is low. For duct maintenance it often means a lot of stacked housing with collective mechanical ventilation, where one property manager is responsible for dozens of connections.
How often should a residential complex in Delft have its MEV ducts cleaned?
Milieu Centraal advises having the extract ducts of mechanical ventilation cleaned at least once every 8 years. You service the ventilation unit once every 2 years and check the whole system roughly every 4 years. Residents can clean the grilles themselves at least once a year.
How many knowledge and service companies are there in Delft?
According to CBS (2024), 3,855 establishments are in business services and 1,485 in transport, information and communication. Together that is 39.7% of the 13,445 establishments. It is mainly office work, where air quality and a clean supply are directly noticeable for the people who work there.
How often do you assess the ventilation of a research building in Delft?
A trade article mentions a risk assessment every 2 years, and annually in high risk buildings such as hospitals and laboratories. That is not a Dutch statutory obligation, but it is a good starting point. Record the interval and the person responsible in the building's maintenance plan, separately for the lab and office sections.
Which compressor do you need for compressed air duct cleaning in Delft?
The Intelligent Airnozzle needs a compressor that delivers 700 litres per minute or more at about 10 bar. Nitrogen is also possible. The machine comes with 20 metres of hose and a transport case; you buy the monitor for the camera image separately. Check beforehand whether your compressor can stand in a safe place in the building.
Does better ventilation in an office in Delft pay off?
According to the World Green Building Council, better indoor air quality can raise productivity by 8 to 11%. Clean ducts are one part of that, alongside sufficient air change and good filters. The Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit) also requires sufficient uncontaminated air at the workplace and installations that are always in working order.
How do you prevent dust nuisance when cleaning ducts in a commercial building in Delft?
Seal the duct section with balloons, cover the valves with foam caps and keep the section under continuous negative pressure. Let the extraction unit exhaust outside, or use a HEPA filter of 99.97% at 0.3 µm indoors. Work zone by zone, so the rest of the building can stay in use.
Does Lamers have a branch in Delft?
No. Lamers Reinigingstechniek is based in Zelhem and supplies Danduct Clean equipment to companies throughout the Netherlands. Through the site you request a quotation, ask for a callback or send a question. Lamers does not clean ducts itself; that is done by your own team or by a specialist company.
