That calls for its own approach. Dry office dust builds up slowly and is rarely visible from the outside. The biggest gain therefore lies in measuring properly before you clean, and in demonstrating the result afterwards.
Lamers Reinigingstechniek from Zelhem supplies Danduct Clean machines, extraction units and sealing equipment. Lamers has no branch in Den Bosch, as the city is also known, and does not clean ducts itself: you ask Lamers for advice and a quote for your own facilities team or cleaning company.

What do 25,945 business establishments say about the work in Den Bosch?
The municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch has 160,757 inhabitants, ranking 18th of the 342 Dutch municipalities (CBS 2024). The number of business establishments per inhabitant stands out: just over 161 per 1,000 inhabitants. Among the 50 largest municipalities plus Doetinchem, that puts Den Bosch in 6th place. So there are many business addresses, which means many separate ventilation systems.
| CBS sector | Establishments | Share | What it says about the ducts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business services | 7,370 | 28.4% | office ventilation, dry dust, often central air handling |
| Government, education and care | 4,285 | 16.5% | schools, care locations, public buildings |
| Trade and hospitality | 4,200 | 16.2% | shops and kitchen extraction with grease |
| Manufacturing and energy | 3,775 | 14.6% | workshops and local exhaust ventilation |
| Culture, recreation and other services | 2,765 | 10.7% | moisture from washrooms and changing rooms |
| Financial services and real estate | 1,370 | 5.3% | offices, often in larger buildings |

Duct cleaning 's-Hertogenbosch starts with measuring, not brushing
An office duct can look clean from the grille and still hold a considerable layer of dust. Conversely, ducts are sometimes cleaned long before it is necessary. An objective yardstick prevents both.
The European standard EN 15780 was revised in 2025. In an informative annex, the new version contains tables with cleanliness classes, inspection intervals per class in months and acceptable cleanliness levels. According to trade publications, these come with dust limits of less than 0.6 g/m² for the high class, less than 3.0 g/m² for the medium class and less than 4.5 g/m² for the low class. A British trade article places offices, hotels and schools in the medium class. Those values come from secondary sources, so for any contract always compare them with the standard itself.
How the standards relate to each other is explained under Rules for clean ductwork for cleaning contractors.
How to judge in advance whether an office duct needs cleaning
A good assessment takes little time and avoids unnecessary work. This sequence works for most office buildings:
- Get the drawings. Where do the supply and extract ducts run, and where are the dampers, silencers and the air handling unit?
- Visual inspection. Use a camera to look into a few representative duct sections, including behind the first bend.
- Measure where it matters. Take a dust measurement or swab sample where dust collects: downstream of the fan, in horizontal sections and at transitions.
- Check the triggers. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) names three reasons to clean: visible mould, vermin and excessive dust.
- Record everything. Take photos and note the measuring points, so the next inspection covers the same spots.
This round shows automatically which sections need cleaning and which can wait. The full plan for the cleaning itself is described under duct cleaning method.
Access hatches: the precondition for a good result
In many office buildings the problem is not the brush but access. A Eurovent recommendation calls for inspection openings no more than 10 metres apart, or with no more than two bends of 45 degrees or more between them. Ducts wider than 500 mm need a hatch of at least 500 by 400 mm. Openings belong on both sides of dampers, coils, heat recovery units, silencers, filters and fans.
If those hatches are missing, you can fit small resealable access doors. Danduct supplies these as an accessory, along with duct sealing balloons and foam caps for valves.
Fictional example: one long supply duct with four bends and no hatch. With two extra hatches, every section comes within reach of the brushing machine.
Which equipment suits an office portfolio in 's-Hertogenbosch?
Office ducts are usually round or rectangular sheet steel with a medium diameter, with a long horizontal run here and there. That determines the choice.
| Situation | Suitable choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Long runs of 100 to 600 mm, also vertical | DC4 | ✓ up to 30 metres of reach, through 90 degree bends |
| Short branches to a few grilles | PD4 | ✓ on a power drill, shaft of 2.5 to 7.5 metres |
| Small ducts from 30 mm or many bends | Intelligent Airnozzle | ✓ compressed air with a camera, you see what you clean |
| Cleaning a duct during office hours | sealing and extraction | ✓ negative pressure, dust stays in the duct |
| Ducts wider than 600 mm | advice from Lamers | ✗ beyond the range of a standard brush set |
For most office work the DC4 duct cleaner for businesses is the basis: you feed the shaft into the duct and the machine rotates the brush, with adjustable speed and an automatic left and right rotation system. All options side by side can be found under ventilation duct cleaning tools for businesses.
Demonstrating the result after cleaning
A building owner or tenant wants to know whether the work achieved anything. There are two common ways to demonstrate cleanliness after cleaning: a surface comparison, in which you compare the duct visually with a reference, and the gravimetric vacuum test according to NADCA, in which you weigh the remaining dust.
A German laboratory advises assigning cleaning and the hygiene inspection to different parties, for the sake of objectivity. For a facilities team with its own equipment, that is a logical division: clean in house, have it checked externally.
If you work during office hours, keep the section being cleaned under continuous negative pressure with an extraction unit. If that unit exhausts inside the building, a HEPA filter with 99.97% at 0.3 µm is the starting point. The equipment for this can be found under duct sealing balloon for businesses. More about maintaining office ventilation is covered under commercial building duct cleaning.
Ventilation duct cleaning 's-Hertogenbosch and neighbouring municipalities
A facilities team or cleaning company from Den Bosch rarely works only within the municipal boundary. The profile is different in the neighbouring municipalities. Anyone who also works around Oss, see air duct cleaning in Oss, will deal proportionally more with workshops: there, 22.5% of establishments are in manufacturing and energy, against 14.6% in Den Bosch (CBS 2024). For air duct cleaning in Meierijstad that share is 20.6%. A kit tuned only to office ducts sometimes falls short there, for example with local exhaust ventilation.
If you are planning a mixed portfolio, allow for two kinds of work: dry office ducts that you inspect at a fixed interval, and process extraction that follows its own regime. An overview of all municipalities, each with its own angle, can be found under air duct cleaning near me.

Frequently asked questions: air duct cleaning 's-Hertogenbosch
How do I know whether the office ducts in my building in 's-Hertogenbosch need cleaning?
Start with an inspection: camera footage of a few representative duct sections and a dust measurement or swab sample where dust collects. Clean when there is visible mould, vermin or excessive dust. According to trade publications, the limit for offices is around 3.0 g/m² of dust, but always check that against EN 15780 itself.
Which sector is the largest among businesses in Den Bosch?
Business services. According to CBS 2024, 7,370 of the 25,945 establishments in 's-Hertogenbosch belong to that sector, or 28.4%. Financial services and real estate add another 5.3%. That makes office ventilation the most common maintenance work in the municipality, rather than grease or production dust.
Which standard do you use for clean air ducts in an office building in 's-Hertogenbosch?
EN 15780, revised in 2025. In an informative annex, that standard gives cleanliness classes, inspection intervals per class and acceptable cleanliness levels. For buildings with air humidification, VDI 6022 is often used as well, with a hygiene inspection every 2 years, or every 3 years without humidification.
Can a facilities team in 's-Hertogenbosch clean ducts in house with its own equipment?
Yes. With a brushing machine, brushes from 100 to 600 mm, sealing equipment and an extraction unit with HEPA filtration, a trained facilities team can handle most office work itself. For the final check an external inspector is sensible, because a laboratory advises separating cleaning and the hygiene inspection for objectivity.
What do I do if a duct in a Den Bosch commercial building has no access hatches?
Fit resealable access hatches before you start cleaning. A Eurovent recommendation calls for openings no more than 10 metres apart or after at most two bends of 45 degrees or more. Danduct supplies small access doors as an accessory. This brings every section within reach of the brushing machine.
How do I prove after cleaning that the ducts in Den Bosch are really clean?
With a surface comparison or a gravimetric vacuum test according to NADCA, in which you weigh the remaining dust. Record it with photos of the same measuring points as in the inspection beforehand, so the before and after situations can be compared directly by owner, tenant and inspector.
Can ducts in an office in 's-Hertogenbosch be cleaned while people are working?
That is possible if you seal off the section being cleaned and keep it under continuous negative pressure with an extraction unit. If that unit exhausts indoors, it needs a HEPA filter with 99.97% at 0.3 µm. Seal the grilles with foam caps so no loosened dust reaches the workplaces.
Which Lamers machine best suits office ducts in Den Bosch?
For long runs of 100 to 600 mm, also vertical and through 90 degree bends, the DC4 is the logical basis, with up to 30 metres of reach. For short branches the PD4 on a power drill is often enough. Small ducts with many bends are cleaned with the Intelligent Airnozzle.
Does Lamers have a branch in 's-Hertogenbosch?
No. Lamers Reinigingstechniek B.V. is based at Ambachtsweg 2 in Zelhem and supplies professional cleaning equipment from there to facilities teams, installers and cleaning contractors. Lamers does not carry out cleaning work itself. You can request a quote, ask for a callback or put a question about the right machine.
Does clean office ventilation in Den Bosch also benefit employees?
Clean ducts are one part of a good indoor climate. The World Green Building Council states that better indoor air quality can raise productivity by 8 to 11%. That figure concerns the indoor climate as a whole, not just the ducts, so treat clean ductwork as one contributing factor among several.
